Alex Bryant
Clinical Psychologist
BA (Psych) Hons (Psych) MPsych (Clinical) MAPS
Alex has been working with people across their lifespan and across public and private health settings for over 25 years, treating a wide range of psychological presentations. Coupled with a commitment to provide a high standard of professional and ethical service, Alex values the pairing of knowledge and skill with care and compassion.
Alex takes an active role in helping people to better understand the problem for which they are seeking help and matching it with the best solutions available. Alex is informed by evidence-based interventions and empirically validated research, with an emphasis on neuroscience, attachment theory and psychodynamic theory.
In terms of clinical training and service, Alex has undertaken extensive training in Psychodynamic therapy (Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy and Affect State Therapy). This is additional to the Clinical Masters in Psychology qualification, in which Alex received the Student Prize from the College of Clinical Psychologists. Whilst she tailors interventions to suit the needs of the individual, Alex has found that psychodynamic therapy is able to offer an intense and short-term treatment that extends beyond symptom relief. This mode of therapy offers both depth and comprehensiveness as a treatment model, focusing on unconscious processes and emotional insight, leading to positive therapeutic outcomes.
Alex offers telehealth as well as in-office consults. She is registered with AHPRA as a Clinical Psychologist and accepts private referrals as well as from GPs, DVA and NDIS. She also runs groups in her consult space to cater for a variety of needs and offers supervision to registrars as well as seasoned practitioners. Alex is the sole owner and director of Hume Street Health.
